Great Book, must have: it's the Eclipse E4 Bible !

This book is a complete and effective guide to build Eclipse E4 Applications. It's the sum of the work of one of the Eclipse 4 leading experts; and it is also the result of a choral effort of many Eclipse experts and bloggers. In short, this is the book that any Eclipse E4 developer must have on the desk.

The book contains exercises, concise technical explanations, and comes with an exhaustive and updated list of topics. It's the ideal mix for who like to read, understand and make practice "little by little".

The book is quite consistent and well organized. There are more than 700 pages containing 144 sections, each one of around 3-4 pages. The sections are logically grouped in 38 chapters, and the overall readability is good.

As R&D Engineer I'm a constant reader of the vogella.com blog, and I've already bought the previous Lars' E4 book, in digital format. This is the only "printed book" that I've I bought for the Eclipse E4 development. And I'm sure: this book is "The E4 Bible".

An awesome book about how to write Eclipse 4.3 RCP applications

This book is, like the one before, easy to read and in my opinion Lars Vogel knows how to use a few words to explain you the world of Eclipse 4 applications. It covers a lot of common scenarios every developer will meat in his daily work. He explains the important services and techniques of Eclipse 4 which every developer should know. The structure of the book allows you to read it from the beginning to the end or even take it as a kind of reference. A huge number of examples and tutorials help to understand the concepts and work-flows of the new Eclipse e4 workbench.

The basics about OSGi, SWT and JFace make this book also an interesting entry point for Eclipse beginners and help the already familiar developers to refresh their knowledge or inspire them to new/old ideas.

Lars Vogel also provides a lot of help and some nice extra topics, which go beyond the scope of this book, on his homepage.

For me this book is a “must-have” for every Eclipse 4 RCP developer, because nothing (except the source-code) explains such a lot of details about the new Eclipse 4.

Excellent step by step guide for RCP 4

This review is for the Kindle edition of the book.

I consider myself to be an intermediate Eclipse developer, and have had a part in creating 5 Eclipse plugins for internal use by my company. Until my current project, I never had the need to create a standalone RCP application. From experience, I have found that the author of this book (Lars Vogel, at [...]) has posted some of the most comprehensive and detailed tutorials about many programming topics that have been relevant to my work.

This book is a great resource for anyone wanting to create RCP applications. There is a lot of sample code and step by step examples for beginners. Experienced developers can look forward to detailed descriptions about what has changed and a section about porting your existing plugins to the RCP4 model.

Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase, and am happy to support the author since his tutorials have helped me out so much over the years.

Both brilliant and easy to grasp

This book has been of great significance in my coming to know God. I have given copies to probably 10 people, and the ones who have read it all say the same.
Tom Green is a gift to all communions of the Church, Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant. *Weeds Among The Wheat* shows His deep knowledge and love of God and his profound compassion for God's people on Earth.
The best thing about this book is that it keeps the back-and-forth quality of the Christian life firmly in focus: we serve a God who is power, love, and light, but we are fallen men and women, living in a fallen world with few really black-and-white choices.
Green is writing about discernment, which is the art of hearing clearly what God is saying, and then following where He leads--hence the subtitle, "Where prayer and action meet."
The very idea of a real God, outside of us, speaking to us things we can understand and know come from Him, is ridiculed by many. Separating God's voice from all the others crowding our heads is difficult, but God wants us to know Him; with the help of the Holy Spirit, discernment is not at all impossible. *Darkness In The Marketplace* is a great place to begin learning how.

Excellent guide for discernment of the spirits

Started reading this book because of a series of seminars on spiritual discernment at an Ignatian centre. It's by far the most enlightening and useful book i've read on discernment.

Fr Green began by looking at three key concepts of God throughout history - disinterested watchmaker, manipulative puppeteer and loving Father of mature adults. Then, he explained six norms for distinguishing true prophets from false prophets in the Old Testament - often prophecies of something bad/unpopular (rather than something good so as to make the kings or the powers-that-be artificially happy), fulfilment through 'signs', obedience to God, deep faith consistent with earlier teachings in the bible, intention to convert people for the better (rather than to covert power or other material rewards), and an inaugural prophetic call.

Then a chapter followed on how Jesus discerned infallibly His identify and mission, as well as how his disciples discerned gropingly the person of Jesus and His mission, what the apostles Paul and John had taught about spiritual discernment in their letters to the faithful (e.g., Galatians 5:19-23 in the New Testament). Next, more details on the kind of disposition and 'climate' that a discerner needs to maintain to be truly open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and so on.

How i wish i've read this book much earlier! Then again, if i had read this earlier, it would not make that much sense, would it?

A Fine Book....Much Food for Thought

I first began to consider the "art" of discernment at a retreat last year and purchased the book to read shortly thereafter. As we week to discover or discern God's plan for us, WEEDS AMONG THE WHEAT provides an excellent discussion of the topic in clear, articulate language. Unlike many texts, this book is highly readable whether one has actual training in theology or is relatively new to spiritual exploration. As Christians and Catholics, we are called to do God's work, not just what we think is God's work. We are called to do God's work in our daily lives in the world at large, not just during solitary times of prayer or devotion.
Father Green provides a rich source of information in developing discernment in the context of a special lifelong journey. It is an excellent introduction to the Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius Loyola and to "the place where prayer and action meet."

You can read a hundred other articles and books on teams but if you want one book which explains team, performance areas, team building, coordination and cohestion, this is the book that you want to read. I read it from the first page to the last and found it to be a very informative and well-written book.

About the Author
Bethany Valachi, PT, MS, CEAS is recognized as a leading dental ergonomic expert. She is a physical therapist, dental ergonomic consultant and President of PosturedonticsÂ®, a company that provides research-based dental ergonomic education. Clinical instructor of ergonomics at OHSU School of Dentistry in Portland, Oregon, Bethany has provided expertise on dental ergonomics to numerous practicing clinicians and schools, including faculty training at NYU College of Dentistry. She is a member of the National Speakers Association, and lectures internationally at dental meetings, schools, associations and study clubs. She is ergonomic columnist for Dental Economics journal, and has been published in many peer-reviewed dental journals, including the Journal of the American Dental Association, Contemporary Oral Hygiene, Australian Dental Practice and others. Bethany has also produced Chairside Stretching and Home Exercise DVDs specifically for dental professionals. She lives in Portland, OR with her husband, Dr. Keith Valachi who operates a private dental practice.

About the Author
Thomas F. Remington is Goodrich C. White Professor of Political Science at Emory University. He has taught at Emory since 1978. He is author of numerous books and articles, including The Russian Parliament: Institutional Evolution in a Transitional Regime, 1989 1999; The Politics of Institutional Choice: Formation of the Russian State Duma (co-authored with Steven S. Smith); Parliaments in Transition; The Truth of Authority: Ideology and Communication in the Soviet Union; Building Socialism in Bolshevik Russia; and a textbook on Russian politics, Politics in Russia. Remington is a past member of the Board of Directors of the National Council for Eurasian and East European Research and of the Board of Directors of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies. He is the Advisor for Russia Workshops for the East-West Parliamentary Practice Project, based in Amsterdam, and he has planned and directed a series of workshops for parliamentarians in a number of cities in Russia since 1993. His research focuses on the development of political institutions in postcommunist Russia, including parliamentary politics, legislative-executive relations, and labor market and social welfare institutions. In addition to courses dealing with Russian political development, he teaches courses in comparative political institutions and comparative political and economic reform.

Remington's Politics in Russia

I have twice used Remington's Politics in Russia as a text in my Russia Politics course for intermediate political science students. -- It is an excellent text for students. Most of my students thought the book was readable, comprehensive, sufficiently detailed, and clear. -- It is an excellent text from which to teach, comparative in nature, adequately comprehensive, short (244 pages), and without a strong personal bias.
Remington's approach is the comparative politics approach of Almond and Powell -- systems from socialization through interest aggregation and policy making to implementation and feedback. His book is a broader, more detailed version of his chapter in Almond and Coleman's Comparative Politics Today (Longman) 2000.
For a short book, it is comprehensive. It lacks, however, a development of the historical context of the Russian political system. Its chapters 1 and 2 are sufficient for his purposes, but they do not give a student, with little or no knowledge of late 19th and 20th century Russian history, an adequate overview of the past. Additionally, the book does not discuss sufficiently critical social issues in Russia, although his comparative approach is dependent upon the culture and socialization.
Because the book is short, I can supplement it with other readings (I use a Russian foreign policy text and The Economist)without breaking the student's bank account or having to rely solely on Remington.
The book has no obvious bias, other than its particular comparative approach. It is objective and factual, while raising many of the important value issues. He does not try to sell the reader a particular view of Russian politics.

A Comprehensive Text on Modern Russian Politics

I used this book with some success in my upper division course on Russian politics. The book addresses Russian politics after the implosion of the Soviet system. The book is comprehensive, but its attention to detail does not destract the reader from main points. This is important, because textbooks often become unreadable due to excessive irrelevant information. This in not the case with Remington's book. The writing style is rather pedestrian, but for a textbook, it is more than adequate. This book cover events in Russia up until 1997, so this book, or at least this edition is a bit dated. Events in Russia are changing very fast, and the author is not responsible for not being able to churn out a textbook that is 100 percent up to date. For a more popular analysis of events in Russia afer 1991 see David Remnick's "Resurrection." I recommend this textbook for any undergraduate class in Russian politics.

Too much going on

I have had to use this text for my politics of russia course and this is one of the most worst written text I have ever read in my politcal science career. The author continously flip flops between time. He starts in the 80s, goes into now and then flop back to 80s without note. this text is poorly written for those who have no general of idea of Russia. I could hardly read two pages without getting annoyed and bored with the text. The chapters are so jammed packed with information that seems to have such poor organization. Now I see why not too many people have choosen this course, mostly because this text was assigned to it. I have had to read, then reread each chapter just to get a touch of what Remington talked about but to no avail, I was completly bored with the book. After the first 5 pages of each chapter, the pages just seemed to run together. (This is my opinion, no one else to which we are all entitled to our own.)

The Best Book Out There for Those Seeking a High (700+) Score on the Math 2 Exam.

I am a Harvard graduate, SAT perfect scorer and professional test-prep tutor with 18 years of experience, and this is my go-to preparation book for the Math 2 SAT Subject Test.

Of course, you should also buy the Official Guide, which includes 2 real tests: The Official SAT Subject Tests in Mathematics Levels 1 & 2 Study Guide

This book includes 7 mock practice tests, including the diagnostic test, along with answer explanations, as well as an in-depth review of the many concepts that are required understanding for the Math 2 SAT Subject Test, and practice questions ("exercises") that pertain to each lesson.

It's also affordable, and the questions are high-level difficulty...which might be a tad unrealistic compared to the actual test, but which provides excellent preparation for the many advanced high-school math topics (up to Pre-Calculus) that might show up on the Math 2 test, such as Functions, Polynomials, Logarithms, Polar Coordinates, Complex Numbers, Vectors, Matrices, etc.

Are the questions perfect? No. Are the answer explanations perfect? No, not even close. But it's the best, most rigorous practice for the Math 2 exam, and includes plenty of helpful math strategy.
