Ah! Young love

This is the author's first offering on Amazon Digital Services. She has written for Signet and Zebra historical romances in the past. The historical romance is a compromised marriage plot. I gave the novel 3 stars because it needs some editing. The fathers' names in the first chapters need correction. They were mislabeled more than once. Lord Chenmarth referred to Alessandra as "Chenmarth's youngest girl" and not Warring's youngest girl. To be clear, Geoffrey is the heir of Lord Chenmarth and Alessandra is Lord Warring's daughter. Otherwise, the grammar was good with only a typo or two and the story flowed. The sexual content was very mild. Geoffrey is only 23 to his wife's 18 so their immaturity worked well in a plot that had the newlyweds living with the bride's parents. However, there is a certain ick factor for the entire family knowing exactly when a marriage has been consummated. The secondary characters were perhaps the best part of the novel. The separated Lord and Lady Chenmarth needed a book of their own.

February 2015: The author reports that she has fixed the errors in the character names.

A clean sweet romance.

This is the second book from this author that I have read and I enjoyed both books. Due to a series of comical errors in the park, the H/h are forced to marry. This book basically shows the difficulties of adjustment and the growth of the couple, along with others in the book too. I enjoyed the read, there were times I laughed and times that I cried. It is a clean romance for those that would rather not have sex in a book. It is a quick, enjoyable read that I would recommend to anyone wanting a sweet romance.

A Sweet and Insightful Regency Romance

I've been downloading more than a few romance novels in the last few years, and felt dissatisfied with them. I had thought that it was perhaps the media--the difference between a paper book and an e-book. However, after reading Teresa DesJardien's A June Bride, I now realize it's because the others weren't of this quality.

The protagonists--Geoffrey and Alessandra--are young, without a solid model for married life, so they're trying their best--within the restrictions of early 19th century society--to figure out what they are supposed to do, and how to go deal with the unexpected directions their lives take. Ms. DesJardien writes with a kind and intimate understanding of these young people; their insecurities, their fears, and their growing maturity. Where other authors have protagonists who go into a snit at the least provocation, Geoffrey and Alessandra--in the midst of their worries--try to find the real explanation behind each other's behavior.

A June Bride is a sweet romance, appropriate for all ages. What makes this romance head and shoulders above others is the thoughtfulness in crafting the two protagonists--and the secondary characters as well--with a certain depth and wisdom that comes from an author who is dedicated to the art of storytelling.

Useful Book

I've taken four different psych courses and this was my first "nursing" psych class. I can't say much for the instructor of this class.. but I found the book immensely helpful. It's not difficult to read, which is more than I can say for some of the abnormal psych books I've had previous experience with. I essentially just read the book and skipped majority of my lectures and passed with flying colors. Depending on the type of instructor you have this may not necessarily work for you, but it certainly did for me!

This is definitely a beginner's guide though to psychiatric illness, it touches on many many aspects of mental illnesses without going into much detail about any specifically - this made it great for intro to psych nursing , but for anybody wanting something more substantial or specific to one disease, this is probably not the right book to choose.

Regarding the previous review - I did not buy the study-guide that accompanies this text. I didn't think the book questions were that terrible, there are some following every chapter - however, I've been relying more on my actual NClex book for questions rather than the text-books required for classes.

Awesome

So I've got an entire bookshelf dedicated to lower level software books and this is by far the most versatile and most information packed. It is incredibly terse and comprehensive. I can see anyone from just an average user that wants to learn about macs to a senior developer who has much experience in c and even objective c but not necessarily the inner workings of Darwin find a lot of use from this book. I have not finished it yet (its almost 1000 pages) but I have already learned enough to fill 10 buckets. What I also love is how it refers to other books that go far more in depth on each topic. So yes in a sense this book is comprised of summaries but they still go in depth enough for one to understand the gist of whats going on. I can say from the start that the chapter on EFI is pretty phenomenal and that coupled with all the information on the mach architecture has taught me an incredible amount. Overall if you are interested in learning about macs and how they work, or are a programmer and want to learn how to take advantage of some lower level stuff or if you're more in the hacker field and enjoy seeing how things work under the hood and how you can manipulate them to your advantage (me) you will definitely enjoy this book.

Excellent book!

This book is a result of an extensive, epic research made by the author. Yes it is all open source, you could go an read the code to understand the architecture - but this is why you have books! It covers the subject really thoroughly and written in an easy to read format. The book contains some amazing reverse engineering work which is just cool and revealing things never covered since Amit's book. I wonder what Apple engineers think of this book. I bet they could buy it for their new recruits!

A Perfect Security Resource as Well

Doing iOS and Mac OSX security research becomes pretty hairy with the mountain of code and nature of objective-c and ARM. This book provides a reference that has just simply not been available in any other book. Our mobile penetration testers at Fortify are all reading this release right now and signing it's praises. We look forward to it aiding our automation efforts in identification of security vulnerabilities of iOS code. Also, the new command line tools and descriptions of them alone are worth the book cost.

A Vital Resource

This is a vital resource for academics studying the Haitian Revolution or anyone interested in learning more about this fascinating period of history. Geggus provides faithful translations of original documents -- an invaluable resource for those who want to work with primary sources but don't read French fluently, or who don't have access to archival materials.

This book makes history come alive! So often when we read about history we feel the distance, but these original sources put you right on the sidelines of the Haitian Revolution. Geggus provides brief but helpful descriptions of each document to contextualize it, but lets the documents themselves take precedent over his own commentary. As an academic with a strong interest in Haitian history, this book has become absolutely indispensable.

This trade collects Silver Surfer issues #34-38, The Thanos Quest Books 1&2, and a six page story from Logan's Run issue #6.

Rebirth of Thanos collects the events leading up to Marvel's classic universe spanning crossover, The Infinity Gauntlet. The Mistress Death has observed what she believes to be a cosmic imbalance and has her most dangerous servant resurrected to correct it. They believe only one obstacle can impede his success: the Silver Surfer.

The Silver Surfer issues provide interesting but not entirely necessary background explaining Thanos's goals and motivations as well as the Surfer's first attempts to stem the Titan's mad plans. It's a bit uneven blend of drama and humor (looking at you, Impossible Man) but Starlin was laying groundwork here for something bigger, and the insight provided and glimpses of characters such as Thanos's family (Nebula, Mentor and Eros) and Drax the Destroyer sets the stage nicely for the saga of the Infinity Gems.

The Thanos Quest follows Thanos as he attempts to collect all six gems from beings known as the Elders. It adds great depth to the events that follow and is great in it's own right. From my review of the individual issues: "Jim Starlin and Ron Lim were a fantastic team, and well known for their work in the cosmic corners of the Marvel U. Thanos is a particularly interesting villain: incredibly powerful, but brilliant, ambitious and devious beyond measure to boot. Starlin makes his search for ultimate power compelling, and Lim's art, while a different style than that of today, is excellent none-the-less."

The Final Flower is really a throw away story and since it focuses on a version of Drax the Destroyer who is somewhat different from the one in the rest of the trade, is relatively pointless as well.

Overall Rebirth is a great collection of cosmic adventures that build the stakes nicely for The Infinity Gauntlet. The rest of the material isn't quite as strong as The Thanos Quest (one of my all time favorite stories) but is still solid, and as Quest is long out of print in any other format this trade is easily worth picking up.

Great characterization of Silver Surfer and Thanos. . .

This trade collects issues #34-38 of the Silver Surfer and the Thanos Quest miniseries and could be considered an essential prologue to the Infinity Gauntlet storyline. The Silver Surfer issues depict the title character witnessing the resurrection of Marvel's answer to Darkseid, Thanos. The Surfer gathers all the information he can about Thanos from various allies among the Marvel characters before his "final" confrontation with Thanos. Ron Lim handles the art for these Silver Surfer issues, as he did for the various Infinity crossovers. Where the collection really excels is the Thanos miniseries, in which Thanos gathers the Infinity gems in order to appease Lady Death. The art here is even better than in the Surfer issues, and the characterzation of Thanos is extremely well-written, enough so that he might just become your favorite villain. See the ingenious schemes through which he manages to steal each of the Infinity Gems from their respective owners and his relationship with Death in these stories if you don't believe me. A brief Thanos and Drax the Destroyer story nicely rounds out the collection.

not the best SS, but pretty good

This run should have been called SS guest starring Starlins creations. When Jim Starlin took over he brought a great deal of excitement with him, he also brought the world of Thanos that he created many years ago in Captain Marvel & Iron Man. I am not complaining, i have always been a fan of Thanos, Drax, Mentor & friends. I also enjoyed the addittion of Impossible Man in this collection. Ron Lim is one of the more under rated artist, I wish he would get his own series, maybe the new Nova.

The only fault I find in this collection is Starlin tended to minimize the SS in terms of power, he comes on as greatly inferior to Thanos. We all tend to forget his original appearences, the SS represented an Angel of Death ( while Galactus represented God himself ). In defense of starlin most people seem to have forgotten what Kirby meant with the creation of this Iconic Charecter screaming for his own book ( not a mini )
